Tension and Opportunity Atop Women\u2019s Football<\/h2>

Last week the Women\u2019s Super League and Women\u2019s Championship voted to form an independent league organisation. The implications for women\u2019s football are significant.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Domestic Prosperity\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 A standalone entity committed to commercial growth and stimulating new investment will strengthen the domestic product. Interest in the WSL has increased 7.5x since 2019, bolstered by the 2022 Lionesses.<\/li>\n
  2. New Standards<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 NewCo\u2019s mandate to make the WSL and WC the most competitive and entertaining domestic competitions will improve European football. While Barcelona, Lyon, Chelsea, and Bayern are the outright strongest global teams, their domestic leagues have lacked the Quality and Jeopardy seen in NWSL.<\/li>\n
  3. Competitive Tension<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Women\u2019s football will benefit from rival domestic leagues atop the ecosystem. England’s\u00a0raw potential combined with NewCo\u2019s mission will help challenge the NWSL, which per our analysis is home to the biggest proportion of the world\u2019s best players, a landmark media deal, and new investment pouring in.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/section>
